Is Time the Boss of You?

Time is a loaded concept.

It seems like everything in our lives is governed by time, from the moment we get up, typically in a jolt by an intrusive alarm clock, until we go to bed. It doesn't stop during the day.

We have to rush to get the kids to school and ourselves to work. What time do we have to be wherever we're going next? How long is it going to take to get there? At what time are they expecting us? When is the meeting? Is traffic going to make us late? How long is the line--meaning how much time are we going to spend waiting? At what time do I need to pick up the kids? How long do we have to cook the chicken/beans/fish? Are the kids going to be late for school/soccer practice/karate, etc., and those are just the day-to-day things.

You may also feel that you are running out of time to accomplish your big goals. Is your biological clock ticking? Do you have time to go on vacation? When will you get married? What are you waiting for to get divorced? When will you have kids? I don't have time to spend with my kids/partner/family. How long before your kids leave for college? How many years before you can retire?

The list is endless. And, the stress can be tolling and impactful on our health, emotional well-being, and overall wellness in ways we may not even be aware of.

In this lesson's homework, we are going to take a look at how the endless pull of time impacts you and your mindset around time, your health, and your overall well-being. You are also going to explore your personal challenges, fears, and excuses around time.
