The person you will talk to the most in your life is not your best friend, your partner, your kids, or one of your parents...it's yourself.

Without even realizing it, you are talking to yourself all day long. We all do. This self-talk includes phrases that we repeat to ourselves throughout the day or as a result of a trigger.

These phrases become mantras and affirmations, which can be empowering or disempowering. They are expressions of our beliefs and they shape how we feel, our behavior, and how we live our lives. They make up the frame of our worldview about ourselves and our lives. The more we repeat them, the more we believe them as we subconsciously look for and even create evidence of their truth. As we build up the evidence in favor these "truths", they become part of our fixed mindset about who we are and our lives.

When it comes to time, disempowering self-talk can include phrases such as:

  • I don't have time...

  • Maybe once the kids go to college...

  • By now, I should already be married/rich/etc...

  • I'm too old to...

  • I'm too young to...

  • I have to get organized first...

  • Now isn't the right time...

  • My time has passed...

  • At my age, I should already have....

  • I don't have time to workout right now...

  • My business comes first...

  • It was a terrible year...

  • Today was a disaster...

  • Same thing, different day...

  • I'm not ready to...

  • When I retire, I'll have time to...

  • My business has to come first...

  • Time is money...

In this lesson, you are going to identify your disempowering self-talk around time and replace it with empowering phrases, mantras, and affirmations.
